Dashboard Anatomy

Dashboards

Dashboards are applications containing different forms of information. When you log into Dashboard, you can see which dashboards you have access to in the blue header at the top of the window. Each dashboard has its own information and purpose. PolyData Dashboard Header

Pages

Within each dashboard, pages are organizational tabs that break up information in each dashboard into logical groups.

Requests

Requests are mini applications that display the information within the dashboard. Each request displays different information and can be output in different views to help functionality. Here is an example of one request but they all look different depending on the specific request and its selected view. Example of the Revenue and Expense Summary request

Link at the top right hand corner of each request box that allows you to minimize or maximize the box into smaller or larger boxes to save room on the dashboard. This function does nothing except hide the request content from the user's view. It does not refresh a request.

Information on Specific Requests

For more information on how to use specific requests, please refer to the functional data steward, whose contact information can be found on the Welcome dashboard.

Prompt Request

These are special requests that do not display information but filter it. Page prompt requests are located at the top of the dashboard, right underneath the page tabs and request prompts are located at the top of the request.

Close-up on a prompt request
  1. Fill out the form fields, drop-down menus, and multi-select fields with your desired specifications.
  2. If a value is blank in the prompt, Dashboard will accept all choices in that field
  3. Click the "Go." button. This will result in all the requests on the page showing the data that fits within your given criteria.
  4. Page prompts affect the entire page and request prompts affect single requests.
  5. If there are multiple prompt sections within a prompt request, you must click "Go" for each section before moving on to the next section.

Notes about Prompt Requests:

  • On some pages, when you fill in a prompt field, you are constraining the prompt. The prompt will try to only offer you valid choices based on all the values you've already entered into other page prompt fields.
  • Default values in the prompts are only to make loading of pages faster. They do not limit what you can view.
  • Do not forget to click "Go" to start filtering data
