FAQs

  • What applications should integrate with Enterprise Authentication Services?
    • Applications that want to be integrated with the My Cal Poly portal and applications that deliver services to a significant and/or changing population.
  • What population of users can be authenticated using Enterprise Authentication Services?
    • All students, faculty, staff, including ASI and Cal Poly Corporation, student applicants, and other people affiliated with Cal Poly. Some options even allow users from other CSU campuses including the Chancellors Office.
  • Does this mean that all of these people will have access to my application?
    • Enterprise Authentication Services is responsible for authenticating the user and passing information to the application or service. The application or service must then make a decision whether the user is authorized to receive services.
  • How are accounts for faculty, staff, students, and others populated in Enterprise Authentication Services?
    • Every night the Cal Poly identity system retrieves account information from various data feeds such as Human Resources, Student Administration and other sources. This information is used to create new accounts, and disable old accounts.
  • What other applications are integrated with Enterprise Authentication Services?
    • Cal Poly's major web based applications, Portal, PeopleSoft Human Resources, Finance and Student, Email, Calendar, Service Request System, Student Registration, PolyData Dashboards, and many more, are fully integrated today.
  • How do I determine which authentication option is best for my application?
